Air Quality Monitoring, Richland Federal Building, Richland, WA

General Services Administration

White Shield supported the General Services Administration with air monitoring services at Richland, WA Federal Building during contractor removal of asbestos containing materials. The work was performed after normal business hours when the building is un-occupied. Preabatement air sampling and an initial inspection of the containment installed by the abatement contractor were conducted to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations. During the abatement, White Shield provided twice-weekly air monitoring at three locations outside of the containment, and a visual inspection inside the containment weekly. Air sample analysis was conducted by the Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) method. When the abatement concluded, White Shield provided a final visual inspection, aggressive air sampling, and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) air sample analysis before removal of the containment by the abatement contractor.
